Jabir bin Samura:
The narration comes through one path only.
Al-Amini provides another path from Kanz Al-Umaal, however, upon returning to the original source of the quote, which is Musanaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, we found that this is a mistake and it is a quote from Jabir bin Abdullah who comes next.
The chain comes through the path of unknown narrators like Ali bin Al-Hasan Al-Taymuli, Abdul Rahman bin Hilqam, and Subh Al-Muhalimi.
Jabir bin Abdullah Al-Ansari:
The narration of Jabir comes from three main paths.
- The first path is through the hadith of Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Aqeel, who has been weakened by most scholars. Al-Hafith Mughlatai in Al-Iktifa’ 2/206 lists Ibn Uyayna, Al-Humaidi, Yahya, Ahmad, Abu Zur’ah, Abu Hatim, Ibn Sa’ad, Al-Saji, Yahya Al-Qattan, Al-Uqaili, Ibn Khuzaima, Ya’qoub bin Sufyan, Ali ibn Al-Madeeni, Al-Jawzajani, Al-Khateeb, Ibn Shaheen, Al-Barqi, Al-Nasa’ee, Al-Balkhi, and Abu Ahmad Al-Hakim.
- The second path comes through Abdullah bin Salih from Ibn Lahee’a. The latter was excessively weakened by the hadith scholars. He was weakened by Al-Humaidi, Yahya bin Sa’eed, Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi, Ahmad, Ibn Khuzaima, Al-Nasa’ee, Al-Khateeb, Al-Jawzajani, and others.
Jabala bin Amr:
No chain is found for his hadith and therefore it cannot be relied upon.
Jubair bin Mut’im:
No chain is found for his hadith and therefore it cannot be relied upon.
Jareer bin Abdullah Al-Bajali:
The narration of Jareer comes through one path, which is the hadith of Al-Tabarani in his Al-Mu’jam Al-Kabeer. Al-Haythami in Majma’ Al-Zawa’id states that the hadith is weak because of Bishr bin Harb. He also adds that there are those in the chain that he does not know, and therefore, they cannot be relied upon. We add: He was weakened by many scholars including Ibn Al-Madeeni, Yahya bin Sa’eed, Yahya bin Ma’een, Abu Zur’ah, Al-Nasa’ee, Sulaiman bin Harb, Abu Dawud, Al-Ijli, Al-Uqaili, Abu Ahmad Al-Hakim, and Ibn Hibban. See his biography in Tahtheeb Al-Tahtheeb.
Junda’ Al-Ansari:
There is only one path mentioned for the narration of Junda’ which is through anonymous narrators like Sa’eed bin Janab and Abu Anfawana, and their anonymity causes the narration to be unreliable.
Conclusion: None of the above Companions have had the narration of Ghadir correctly attributed to them.
